AKIPRESS.COM - The Japanese dolls exhibition has opened on February 21 at the Fine Arts Museum in Bishkek.
70 dolls made of porcelain, ceramics, wood, dressed in traditional attires of silk, muslin and brocade have been exhibited.
“We are opening the exhibition with assistance of the Embassy of Japan and the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan,” Museum Director Yuristanbek Shigayev said in his opening remarks.
“Such unique exhibition is held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time,” he added.
Every doll is handmade and unique. “A huge amount of time was spent to make each doll. Such exhibition is organized for the first time in Central Asia. Before the dolls were showcased in Europe, America. It is a big honor for us,” Mr. Shigayev stressed.
A special importance is paid to dolls in Japan, the exhibition organizers say.
The dolls are elements of visual arts and religious symbolism of Japan. They are objects of admiration and esthetic pleasure for Japanese.
The exhibition will last until March 14.
