State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan seizes 223 kg of drugs in 2013

AKIPRESS.COM - poppiesopium The State Customs Committee foiled 195 cases of attempted drug trafficking in 2013 with 223 kg of drugs seized, the Committee's press service announced.

Thus, Surkhandarya Customs Department reportedly seized around 11 kg of opium in the raid.

The same department detained an Afghan national while crossing the Amudarya River, who had 20.3 kg of opium, Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Another Afghan national tried to smuggle 64.6 kg of opium to Uzbekistan, but was detained.

The last case is still under investigation.
