AKIPRESS.COM - Lawmakers from 13 countries, included in the American Democratic Alliance, will file a lawsuit to the International Court of Justice in The Hague against President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro due to possible violations of human rights during the protests in the country.
The Alliance was founded in 2011 in Caracas to protect democracy and human rights in Latin America.
The Head of the Alliance, the Bolivian MP Adrian Oliva, highlighted Venezuela's situation is an internal problem of the country, but protection of human rights is an all-out issue.
People are being killed in Venezuela, and authorities try to present this problem as confrontation between the opposition and the government in the eyes of the peoples of Latin America and the world, said Oliva.
Since mid-February 2014, numerous protests against government policies are held in Venezuela. During the riots in different cities of the country, 30 people were killed, more than 300 injured, 1.2 thousand people were detained, according to recent data.
