AKIPRESS.COM - Taliban massive attack on a police station in Afghanistan's eastern Jalalabad city on Thursday have left eight people, including five attackers, dead and 16 others injured, Xinhua reported citing the Interior Ministry.
“A six-member group of Taliban terrorists raided a police station in Jalalabad city at 5.30 am and police sharp reaction have led to the killing of five terrorists so far, while operation to kill another is going on,” the statement said.
Operation has been continuing to kill or capture the remaining one terrorist. Two blasts have shocked Jalalabad city since the beginning of the deadly offensive.
Meantime, Zabihullah Mujahid who claims to speak for the Taliban outfit in talks with media claimed responsibility, saying several police, including head of a police station, have been killed.
According to doctors in Jalalabad hospital, so far four bodies have been taken to hospital but the chief of police station is not among the dead.
