AKIPRESS.COM - French President Francois Hollande has confirmed he will attend the commemoration of the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Public Radio of Armenia reported.
The President will make a speech to honor the memory of the 1.5 million victims of genocide at the statue of the Reverend Father Komitas.
40 French cities will honor the victims of the genocide in 1915 perpetrated by the Ottoman government.
On 19 and 21 April, the French TV (Toute l’Histoire and LCP Public Senat) aired documentaries on the Armenian genocide.
France recognized the Armenian genocide on January 19, 2001.
