Health of wounded Tajik Consul to Badakhshan is satisfactory

AKIPRESS.COM - Kabul police Doctors said that health of Rustam Makhmoudi, Tajik Consul to Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province who was attacked by armed men last Friday, is satisfactory, Asia-Plus reported.

The Consul received surgery by Japanese doctors in one of Kunduz province hospitals. “The surgery was successful, and Rustam Makhmoudi feels well at the moment,” spokesperson of the Tajik Foreign Ministry Abdulfaiz Atayev said.

Unidentified persons shot a car of the Tajik Consul to Badakhshan on the evening of 16 May. As a result, the diplomat was wounded.

The incident is being investigated by Afghan and Tajik law enforcement bodies. No armed group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
