Brazil opens 2014 FIFA World Cup with 3-1 victory vs Croatia

AKIPRESS.COM - 1.1757884 Brazil opened the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament on home soil with a win against Croatia, according to the media reports.

The hosts however were troubled by the resilient Crotia team with Olic causing problems for Felipe Scolari’s backline.

The whole Brazilian nation were left bemused when a Marcelo own goal gave Croatia the lead.

Brazil struggled to get an equalizer before the first half interval as poster boy Neymar’s strike from long range found the back of the net via the right post.

Crotia felt done by Brazil’s second goal which resulted from a Neymar penalty goal before Oscar added a third in additional time to give the hosts a 3-1 victory in their opening game.

“If that's a penalty, we don't need to play football anymore. Let's play basketball instead. It's a shame. We better give it up now and go home. We talk about respect, Croatia didn't get any,” said Crotia coach
