AKIPRESS.COM - Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia intend to establish a Eurasian engineering center, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission reported following the first session of the Mechanical Engineering Coordination Council of the Customs Union.
Establishment of the engineering center is expected to be discussed at one of the nearest sessions of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The participants of the session also discussed problems in tool-making industry. Thus, the major issues the industry is facing are small production of metal-working machinery, including equipment with digital software controls; focus on the export of component parts rather than finished products; localization of foreign maintenance centers and sales outlets instead of technologies in the Customs Union; low quality of equipment; and others.
“Therefore, establishment of the Eurasian interstate engineering center is supported by the member states of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space. This will allow resolving the issues in the tool-making industry and will give an additional impetus to the industry,” the statement said.
In addition, major development targets for the mechanical engineering industry in the Customs Union and mechanical engineering inter-agency clusters were considered.
The Mechanical Engineering Coordination Council of the Customs Union was created to develop proposals on modernization and innovative development in mechanical engineering of the participating countries.
