AKIPRESS.COM - Residents of Tajikistan have registered 95 marriages with foreign nationals in the first half of the year.
In particular, Tajikistanis married to citizens of Uzbekistan – 48, Russia – 16, Kyrgyzstan – 9, Afghanistan – 12, Iran – 4, and China – 2, according to a press conference of the Department of Vital Records of Tajikistan.
In January 2011, the Tajik Parliament introduced amendments to the Family Code, according to which foreigners have the right to marry Tajik citizens only if they had lived in the country for at least a year. The parties also have to enter into a prenuptial agreement, and foreign spouse has to purchase housing.
