Tajikistan's fighter wins silver medal at China Open Boxing Tournament

Bishkek (AKIpress) - Mavzuna Choriyeva of Tajikistan won the silver medal at the China International Open Boxing Tournament, which was held from July 13 to July 20, in Guiyang, China.

In total, 139 athletes (112 men and 27 women) from 17 countries took part in this tournament. Tajikistan was represented by three athletes – Mavzuna Choriyeva, Anvar Yunusov and Svetlana Veglina – under the guidance of Mirzo Shamsiyev, head coach of the national boxing team.

Choriyeva thus reached to the final within tournament among women in the weight category up to 60 kilograms winning against Mongolia, China and Thailand. In the final bout, she lost to China 0-3.

Meanwhile, Svetlana Veglina in the weight category up to 51 kg lost to athlete from North Korea. Anvar Yunusov – in weight up to 60 kg – also lost to his opponent from Kazakhstan.
