Pakistan wants strong economic partnership with Turkmenistan – Nawaz Sharif

AKIPRESS.COM - Sharif+Mederov Pakistan wants a strong economic partnership with Turkmenistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif said during a meeting with Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Mederov on Thursday.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized signing of the operations agreement on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Gas Pipeline Project to complete it by 2017, The Express Tribune reports.

He went on completion of the TAPI project – that envisages transportation of 30 billion cubic meters of gas to Pakistan via Afghanistan – is of high priority.

Pakistan also intends to import nearly 1,000 MW of Turkmen electricity. The sides expressed hope to finalize the required arrangements as soon as possible.

Sharif also voiced the intention to visit Turkmenistan later in 2014.
