AKIPRESS.COM - An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 hit southern Peru around 6:21 p.m. Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake, first reported as magnitude 7.0 by the USGS, originated around 101 kilometers underground 43 km east-northeast of the town of Tambo in Ayacucho region, according to the survey.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, according to Reuters news agency.
