Putin says Russia wants to step up trade relations with Ukraine

AKIPRESS.COM - putin Russia is in favor of stepping up economic interaction with Ukraine, said President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the meeting of the presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, and high-ranking representatives of the European Union in Minsk on 26 August, Belarus state media report.

“In our opinion it would be advisable to considerably bolster interaction in addition to preserving it,” stressed the President of Russia. Yet he doubted the possibility that it was going to happen if the agreement on Ukraine's association with the European Union comes into effect. Russia has repeatedly noted that if Kyiv fulfils all the requirements the agreement specifies, the fact will unavoidably negatively affect trade and investment cooperation in the Eurasian region, stressed Vladimir Putin.
