AKIPRESS.COM - The Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy, supported by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and implemented by ecological movement ‘BIOM’, gathered some 60 representatives from Talas and Issyk-Kul regions, district administrators and the Ministry’s officials for a one-day workshop to discuss strategic planning for sustainable development at the local level, on October 1 in Bishkek.
The participants discussed the implementation of the 2013-2017 Kyrgyz National Strategy for Sustainable Development, and identified opportunities at local levels, taking into account environmental and social factors.
Members of the Talas and Issyk-Kul administrations were trained on building methods of sustainable development, and were supported in drafting local strategies for sustainable development until 2017.
In the coming months, the OSCE Centre in Bishkek intends to implement several projects initiated by the local authorities and communities of two pilot regions in Talas and Issyk-Kul designed to improve knowledge of local citizens on the use of renewable energy sources.
