AKIPRESS.COM - Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping attended the reception marking the 23rd anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan held by Tajikistan's ambassador to China Rashid Alimov, the Chinese media report October 24. 

Cheng said that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations 22 years ago, China-Tajikistan ties have maintained a good momentum of stable development with increasing political mutual trust and fruitful cooperation in various fields. The Chinese side attaches great importance to ties with Tajikistan and will firmly support the Tajik people's choice of their own path of development, continue to provide help and support within its own ability for Tajikistan's development. China is ready to work with Tajikistan to promote bilateral good-neighborly and friendly cooperative relations to a new level.

Alimov said that since Tajikistan's independence, China has provided selfless assistance and support for Tajikistan. Tajikistan is honored to have such a neighbor and partner like China. The Tajik side takes developing relations with China as its diplomatic priority and is willing to carry out closer cooperation with China to further enhance the level of bilateral relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on recent high-level visits, developments of major cooperation projects, as well as international and regional issues of common concern.
