AKIPRESS.COM - The Alliance Française in Bishkek jointly with the Embassies of Switzerland and France in Kyrgyzstan and the Club France announced the week of Francophonie in Bishkek to be held from 16 to 21 March.
Francophonie Week is a festival of French language and the cultures of the French-speaking countries, which is celebrated in the middle of March across the world. The organizers have prepared a program for the broad public to show the linguistic and cultural diversity of the French language in music, movie and theatre.
At the opening of the event, the French movie “Serial (bad) weddings” will be shown at 5.00 pm in the Oktyabr Cinema. This French comedy film is about an “old France” couple whose daughters’ marriages to a Jew, an Arab, a Chinese man and an African challenge the limits of their tolerance.
This year, Francophonie Week will propose different events such as a French-singing competition, a quizz-night on France, an international French-spelling bee and a French gala dinner.
In addition, a concert of the Swiss group “Jo Mettraux” will be held on 21 March at 9.00 pm at the Promzona night club. The group has been invited from Switzerland and will perform for the first time in Bishkek. Jo Mettraux takes his growing audience into his world of light rock/pop/folk.
