Putin congratulates Nazarbayev on Kazakhstan presidential election victory

AKIPRESS.COM - Nazarbayev_Putin_a Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev on winning  at the presidential election in Kazakhstan, the Kremlin press service said on Monday.

"In a congratulatory telegram, the head of the Russian state noted that the result of voting confirms the high authority that Nazarbayev has among Kazakhstan’s citizens, who demonstrated by their choice wide support for the course toward accelerated social and economic development of the country, active participation in Eurasian integrational processes and strengthening strategic partnership and alliance with Russia," the Kremlin said, TASS reports.

"The Russian president stressed readiness to continue dialogue and joint work on further expansion of all bilateral ties, along with constructive cooperation in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and other international structures in the interests of the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan, in line with ensuring peace, stability and security on the continent," the press service added.

According to Kazakhstan’s Central Election Committee, incumbent President Nursultan Nazarbayev received 97.7% of votes at Sunday’s presidential election. Voter turnout exceeded 95%.
