EU Ambassadors, youth of Kazakhstan meet in Ambassadors' Cafe to discuss cooperation prospects, new technologies, innovations

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan-flag Ambassadors’ Café was held by the European Delegation to Kazakhstan on May 18 in Astana as part of celebration of Europe Day.

Ambassadors’ Café is an interactive platform, where Ambassadors of the EU Member-States have informal discussions with youth.

Ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan Traian Hristea, Ambassador of Czech Republic Eliška Žigová, Ambassador of Greece Eythymios Pantzopoulos, Ambassador of Spain Pedro José Sanz Serrano, Ambassador of Hungary Andras Baranyi, Ambassador of the Netherlands Hans Driesser, Charge d'affaires of Portugal AdelinoVieira da Cohna da Silva, Ambassador of Finland Ilkka Raisanen, Ambassador of Sweden Christian Kamill took part in the event.

The purpose of the event is to demonstrate for young generation the European values, and openness and accessibility of the EU and its Member-States.

In order to participate in the event applicants needed to submit a short essay on the topic "Why I deserve to participate in the Ambassadors’ café ", and to describe 5 things that have surprised them in Europe. More than 50 young people, studying and working in Astana, were invited to the event. Ambassadors’ café became the first event of the new format organized for the benefit of the active youth of Astana.

"During the meeting we discussed the prospects of cooperation between the EU and Kazakhstan, new technologies and innovations. Young people actively raised political and economic issues, particular the refugee crisis, the Greece crisis and others. Today I have acquainted with a very intelligent andcompassionate youth that wants to be competitive in the international labour market and open for the new opportunities in volunteering, cultural events, youth exchange and project activities. Kazakhstan can confidently move forward with these young people", Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan, Ambassador Traian Hristea noted in the interview.

Topics of agriculture, energy and green economy, particular aspects of security and antiterrorism were also discussed at the Ambassadors’ Café.
