Rohit Khandelwal becomes first Indian, Asian to clinch Mr. World title

AKIPRESS.COM - 123 Twenty-six-year-old Rohit Khandelwal from Hyderabad has officially become the first Indian and Asian to have clinched the coveted Mr. World title, according to India Today.

The model and actor emerged victorious after battling it out with 46 contestants at the Grand Finale held in Southport, U.K. on July 19, 2016.

Khandelwal, who has previously starred in Hindi Television shows like Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, MTV Big F and Yeh Hai Aashiqui, believes it was the blessings and love of his fans that led to his victory.

"I feel so privileged and humbled to be Mr. World 2016. I would like to thank all my fans and all the people who have been giving me all their blessings. It is only your love and support that has been my inspiration to win Mr. World 2016. It has been an amazing journey to this point, and I cannot wait to see what happens next," the official Mr. World site quotes him as saying.

Reportedly, the lad from Hyderabad was also awarded the title of Mr. Multimedia, which was just one of the many challenges at the competition.

According to the official website of Mr. World, Fernando Alvarez, 21, from Puerto Rico was the first runner-up and Esparza Ramirez, 26, from Mexico was placed at the third position.
