AKIPRESS.COM - A new hunting season began in Turkmenistan since August 6. It will last up to 19 March 2017.

The Regulations by Turkmenistan’s State Committee for Protection of Environment and Land Resources covers all the issues relating to the regular hunting season, reports Turkmenistan.ru.

According to the Regulations, waterfowl hunting is allowed from 3 September 2016 to 19 March 2017, partridges and geese hunting - from 24 September to 19 February 2017, and rabbit hunting - from 24 September 2016 to 8 January 2017. Wild boar hunting is allowed from 6 August to 20 November 2016, if authorized by a one-time paid permit issued by the State Committee.

Wolves, jackals, foxes, corsacs, steppe and jungle cats and rock pigeons can be hunted across the territory of Turkmenistan, including special hunting areas and public lands, provided that hunters observe hunting rules during the season. Protected areas are closed to hunting. Hunting will be prohibited on Mondays and Tuesdays in all areas in the current season.

Fans of national hunting with birds of prey will enjoy privileges, since they preserve the ancient cultural traditions. For example, the period of rabbit hunting for members of the National Falconers Society has been extended to 1 February 2017. The number of rabbits to be hunted is not limited. Hunting with birds of prey will be also allowed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Hunters should keep in mind that their leisure activities should not be used for any profits, and they should do their best to preserve the natural complexes with all their biodiversity. Hunting is allowed only to members of the Union of Hunters and Fishermen Societies of Turkmenistan.
