Kazakhstan officials attend workshop on international cyber security best practices

AKIPRESS.COM - George C. Marshall Center The George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, a joint U.S.-German security education institute, is conducting a workshop with Kazakhstani governmental officials on cyber security best practices September 1-2 in Astana, U.S. Embassy in Astana said.

The workshop will provide Kazakhstani participants an overview of European and American approaches to cyber security strategy, policy, legal frameworks, and international cooperation.

“There are no borders in cyberspace,” Philip Lark, Director of the Marshall Center’s Program on Cyber Security Studies, said. “Kazakhstan faces the same challenges as every other country around the world in protecting critical infrastructure and balancing security and openness online.”

At this workshop, government officials will share their views on the local cyber security environment and will hear how other countries have addressed these global challenges—including with regards to terrorist financing, violent extremist messaging online and information sharing.
