Mongolian pastures reportedly turning into deserts

AKIPRESS.COM - pasture degradation Desertification affects 80% of Mongolian pastures at the moment, according to News.mn.

At least 25% of Mongolia’s population are nomads, remaining dependent on open land for survival. According to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, 71% of Mongolian territory is used for pastures by at least 60 million livestock.

Two factors are named the primary causes of desertification in Mongolia, including climate change and sharp increase in livestock.
