Chocolate cake for breakfast becomes new food trend

AKIPRESS.COM - chocolate cake Having a chocolate cake for breakfast might be a good thing for you, believes Yahoo7.

According to food trend expert Liz Moskow, the benefits of cocoa – especially in the morning – could soon see us ditching our normal brekky options for something a little more indulgent.

“There was a study that recently came out from Syracuse University re-touting the benefits of dark chocolate, specifically on cognitive function – abstract reasoning, memory, focus,” Liz Moskow says. “The thought was eating chocolate prepares you more for your work day. So what better day part to incorporate dark chocolate into your meal than breakfast?”

It's not the only study claiming chocolate in the morning could be the way to go.

Researchers from Tel Aviv University found morning was the best time to eat sweets, thanks to your body's metabolism being the most active and your body burning off calories throughout the day.

While research also suggests eating something sweet in the morning can help reduce your sugar cravings later on, moderation is still key when it comes to how much chocolate you're eating.

Plus, you can still have your cake and eat it too – by looking for cleaner recipes with less refined sugar.

“Combining those two studies and the likeability of having dessert for breakfast, we predict that breakfast might start seeing brunch amuse-bouche chocolate cakes or brunch and breakfast restaurants incorporating a robust dessert menu," says Moskow.
