Mongolian woman to climb Antarctica's highest peak

AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolian mountaineer B.Gangaamaa announced her plan to conquer Antarctica's highest peak Mount Vinsonm news.mn reports.

As of February 2010, 1,400 climbers have attempted to reach the top of Mount Vinson at 4,892 metres (16,050 ft).

The Mongolian State Honoured Sportswoman will climb the Mount Vinson from December 15-30.

Previously, B.Gangaamaa has climbed the Mount Elbrus (Russia), Mount Everest (Nepal), Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Denali (North America), Aconcagua (Argentina) and Carstensz Pyramid (Indonesia).

B.Gangaamaa will become the first woman and ninth Mongolian to climb the Mount Vinson.
