AKIPRESS.COM - Parents marched today against air pollution in Ulaanbaatar, demanding that officials take urgent and efficient action, reports news.mn.
On this occasion, ‘Mothers Against Air Pollution’ presented a letter containing demands to Mongolian government officials. They demanded that a regular meeting of the Cabinet be held in Bayankhoshuu, which is most polluted district of Ulaanbaatar on December 28.
The demonstration was organized by ‘Mothers Against Air Pollution’.
According to the organizers, twenty thousand parents were expected to participate in the march through the Mongolian capital.
However, fewer people participated the demonstration than anticipated.
The parents, wearing masks and holding banners and placards, are trying to raise awareness of the fatal consequences of air pollution and smog; small children suffer the most and the city's hospitals are filled to overflowing with sick infants in this, the worst winter in a decade.
