PM Modi congratulates Indians on World Hindi Day

AKIPRESS.COM - The World Hindi Day (Vishwa Hindi Divas) is being observed annually on 10 January.

Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi, on this occasion, conveyed his best wishes to the Hindi speakers all over the world and also for the speedy promotion of Hindi language across the world. PM Modi added that connecting Hindi with technology will make Hindi one of the world languages.

On this day, India's Foreign Office conducts special events to spread the greatness of the language through its missions abroad. The Department of Official Language (Rajbhasha) also organises several events to mark this day. World Hindi Day was first celebrated on 10 January 2006. It is in addition to present National Hindi Divas which is being celebrated annually on 14 September to mark the day 14 September 1949 on which the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the Official Language of the Union.

Hindi is an Indo-Aryan language, one of the official languages of India, and the first language of the majority of the populace in the Hindi Belt. Outside India, Hindi is an official language in Fiji, and is spoken in significant numbers in Mauritius, South Africa, Suriname, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Hindi is one of the most widely spoken language. There are more than 500 million speakers in the world.
