Schools in Almaty to close during Universiade 2017

AKIPRESS.COM - Schoolers in Almaty will have an extra break during the Universiade 2017 student games, according to the January 11 statement of the Kazakh Ministry of Education.

"Few days are left until Winter Universiade in Almaty, preparation for the biggest event of the year in the southern capital is in full swing. And it affects the education sphere, namely, in connection with the Universiade it was decided to introduce school break in Almaty from 30 January 8 February," the statement said.

The Ministry noted that introduction of school breaks during big international events is a common practice in all over the world.

Universiade will be held under the auspices of the International University Sports Federation from 29 January to 8 February 2017.
