Parents Nurlan Kubanychbekov and Venera Shaishenova buried their children on January 18 in the village of Baitik near Bishkek.

Father Nurlan was badly injured by the plane crash and hospitalized, but he showed up at the funerals despite pain. Doctors were there to help him and his wife, who fainted several times during the day.

“The family is struggling with the huge loss, and here we have police officers accusing Nurlan's younger brother of looting. He lost his relatives, he was not engaged in looting. He was just searching for the documents and trying to find a cellphone near the home. Police officers saw him and detained," said Nemal Umarov, a relative of the family.

Local authorities were at the funerals, too. The family was given about 150,000 soms in assistance.

That day, Venera left home for work as usual. Nurlan who was at home with children was able to save his 6-year-old daughter Saikal and their relatives' 4-year-old daughter Aziza.

38 people were killed on January 16 morning after the Turkish cargo plane crashed into the village near Manas airport. The plane, traveling from Hong Kong to Istanbul, was scheduled for a stopover at the Manas airport. Dozens of homes were destroyed completely.
