AKIPRESS.COM - Aksy villager Jalyn Abdrashit uulu breeds Appaloosa horses that are popular in the United States. It is an American horse breed best known for its colorful spotted coat pattern.

"I bought the horse two years ago at one of the markets in Aksy for 40,000 soms [$575]. My neighbors said that many are interested in buying a horse of this breed. My horse is about 4-5 years old and I am planning to sell it soon," he commented to Turmush.

"I've heard a lot about this breed and that these horses are popular all over the world," he said.

Jalyn added that Appaloosa horses can be domesticated.

Today, the Appaloosa is one of the most popular breeds in the United States; it was named the official state horse of Idaho in 1975. It is best known as a stock horse used in a number of western riding disciplines, but is also a versatile breed with representatives seen in many other types of equestrian activity.

Appaloosas have been used in many movies; an Appaloosa is the mascot for the Florida State Seminoles. Appaloosa bloodlines have influenced other horse breeds, including the Pony of the Americas, the Nez Perce Horse, and several gaited horse breeds.
