'World's fattest tigers' become tourist attraction after overfeeding at zoo

AKIPRESS.COM - Tubby tigers have have become a tourist attraction after piling on the pounds stuffing their faces.

Social media users have poked fun at the real-life fat cats after pictures showed them looking more like well-fed tabbies as they lolled around at a Chinese zoo, reports Mirror.

Some joked that the Siberian tigers had over indulged at the country's Spring Festival, which centres on huge family family feasts.

Others expressed concern for the the portly beasts, but zookeepers have assured them the big cats overeat in the winter months to survive harsh winters of their natural habitat.

The tigers photographed also face freezing conditions at Siberia Tiger Park in northeast China’s Harbin province, where temperatures call fall as low as 20C.

The tigers will gradually slim down after winter when temperature will climb in the summer.

Siberian Tiger Park, which covers a million square meters of land, was set up to breed and house the largest of the big cats.

It is home to about 800 Siberian tigers, an endangered species with an estimated 500 living in the wild - mostly in Russia.
