India, Kyrgyzstan marking 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyz-Indian tiesKyrgyzstan and India mark today 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations, reports the Embassy of India in Kyrgyzstan.

India and Kyrgyzstan established diplomatic relations with signing of a protocol on 18th March 1992. Kyrgyzstan opened its resident Mission in India in 1993 and India its Embassy in Kyrgyzstan in 1994. This year is the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Kyrgyzstan.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary, the leaders of India and the Kyrgyz Republic have felicitated each other. President of India H.E. Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in his message to President H.E. Almazbek Atambaev expressed great satisfaction that bilateral relations between India and the Kyrgyz Republic have progressed well in all spheres. He looked forward to further strengthening of mutually beneficial relationship.

President of the Kyrgyz Republic in his message to the President of India appreciated progressive expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Recalling his meeting with the President of India in December 2016 he pointed the importance of realization of all agreements reached for activation of bilateral cooperation in key areas.

External Affairs Minister also exchanged warm message with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister on the occasion.

India and Kyrgyzstan share deep-rooted historical and cultural linkages. Immense goodwill is palpable at the people-to-people level and a sense of warmth permeates our contacts. The landmark visit of Prime Minister of India to the Kyrgyz Republic in July 2015 and the recent visit of President of the Kyrgyz Republic to India in December 2016 have elevated the relationship and reinforced our ties.

The Ambassador of India in Bishkek will be hosting a Reception in Bishkek on 23rd March 2017 to mark the occasion. During the course of the year, various programmes are planned in Kyrgyzstan and India as part of the celebrations.
