South Korea to give aid to Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - The Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament, Mr M.Enkhbold, is currently participating in the 136th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which is held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from April 1-5, reports news.mn.

On April 4, Mr.Enkhbold met Chung Sye-kyun, Speaker of the South Korean National Assembly. During the meeting, Mr Chung Sye-kyun said: "We appreciate that relations between our two countries is developing successfully in all sectors. We also know that the Mongolian economy is experiencing troubles now. As a friendly ally, South Korea is ready to provide aid to Mongolia in order to help overcome its financial difficulties."

In response, Speaker Enkhbold said: "Last year's parliamentary election has given the Mongolian government stability. Subsequently, we believe that Mongolia can overcome its economic difficulties. We have reached an initial agreement with the International Monetary Fund to include the Extended Fund Facility. So we thank South Korea for agreeing to provide aid to Mongolia under the IMF programme."
