Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: Dog found alive 44 days after avalanche in Jalal-Abad

AKIPRESS.COM - A dog survived for 44 days in the rubble of the avalanche-hit Jany-Bazar village in Chatkal district of Jalal-Abad region, the dog owner told Turmush on April 12.

Villager Konushbai Bekturganov said the avalanche hit the village on February 18 and buried his barn killing 8 head of cattle.

"Our dog that day was lying near the tandoor, which was also buried by snow mass. We thought the dog was not able not make it through that disaster. But on April 4, I was doing my household business, and suddenly heard a dog bark, and went to that place where the sound was coming. Then I had my leg fallen into a pit, where my dog was lying," he said.

"Then I rescued the dog, which got very skinny like a lamb. We're now feeding and taking care of the dog," he said.
