AKIPRESS.COM - Parents of the high-profile hit-and-run driver are asking parents of 2 critically injured school boys to renounce their claims, Minister of Interior Ulan Israilov said during the Parliament meeting on April 27.
MP Altynbek Junus uulu asked the Minister if the information circulating in the social media that the driver was involved in fatal road crash back in 2015 was true.
"Yes. But the parents of the killed person recalled their claims against him and the criminal case was closed," Israilov said.
MP then asked if the information that the parents of the driver are asking to renounce claims this time, too, was true.
"Yes, it is true. We're working on it," Israilov responded.
A hit-and-run involving two school school boys, who were critically injured on April 21 in Bishkek, has become one of the latest headline-making cases and sparked the road safety conversations across the country. One of the boys gained consciousness, the second is still in coma. The driver, born in 1988, later turned himself into police after his parents convinced him to do so.
After the incident, President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev has ordered the Government and the Secretariat of the Security Council to convene a meeting on road safety with the participation of all heads of state bodies and departments that work in this field. The President has also ordered to come up with certain solutions to the accumulated problems in maintaining road safety.
