AKIPRESS.COM - The Senate of the Uzbek Parliament on Tuesday approved certain amendments to the Constitution of Uzbekistan, according to the website of the Senate (upper house of the parliament) of the country.
Thus, the new amendments propose to eliminate the power of the Senate to appoint and dismiss the chairman of the State Committee for Nature Protection.
Amendments also state that the Constitutional Court will be elected by the Senate of the Parliament by the President's proposal among those recommended by the Supreme Court Council.
"These amendments will contribute to strengthening of democratic processes in the country," the statement said.
