AKIPRESS.COM - Multiple cooperation deals were inked by Mongolia and Russia at the St.Petersburg International Economic Forum. Prime Minister of Mongolia Jargaltulgyn Erdenebat is in Russia for the Forum.

A cooperation document between the 'Fourth Combined Thermal Power Plant' state-owned company of Mongolia and Urals Turbine Plant of Russia was signed. In the scope of the cooperation, the parties will collaborate in ensuring a reliable operation of the Fourth Thermal Plant, prolonging its operational period by some 30 years and upgrading its capacity by 90 MW. Furthermore, it also opens opportunities for Russian producers and investors of the energy sector to enter the Mongolian market. The Fourth Thermal Plant supplies 70 per cent of heat energy of Ulaanbaatar, however, its turbines needs to be renovated as they have been used for over 30 years.

Ministries of Agriculture of the two countries signed an agreement on Russia's providing humanitarian aid to Mongolia. According to the deal, Russia will supply 4 million doses of vaccines. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia has already made preparations to transport the vaccines. The parties also agreed to increase meat export by establishing joint meat factories by Mongolian and Russian businessmen and export products to Russia.

An agreement on cooperation in public communications and mass media was also signed by the parties, opening possibilities to exchange journalists, train Mongolian journalists in Russia, create documentaries and broadcast them in the two countries.
