AKIPRESS.COM - India and Pakistan have officially joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on June 9 in Astana.
The agreement on accession of India and Pakistan to theSCO was signed by the SCO member states during the SCO summit in Astana.
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif are present a the summit in Astana.
Modi noted that fight against terrorism is the main direction of the SCO and India's accession will give a powerful momentum to fight against this threat.
He noted that the SCO member states must combine their efforts to cooperate in this direction.
Sharif, for his part, thanked the SCO member states for supporting Pakistan's membership in the organization.
