Ministry of Agriculture proposes 12 irrigation projects to investors

AKIPRESS.COM - Department of Water Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation suggested the investors to consider implementation of 12 irrigation projects in Kyrgyzstan, the department's chief Kokumbek Tashtanaliyev said.

Earlier the government has adopted a state program for the development of irrigation system.

The program consists of 3 blocks: (1) 10 projects that will be implemented on Chinese and Islamic Development Bank grants; (2) a number of object, including the ones funded by the Korean Solidarity Fund; and (3) 12 objects offered to investors.

Costly projects are included in the third block, said Tashtanaliyev.

At the allocation of 58.8 billion som, the government will be able to commission 65,500 hectares of new irrigation lands, increase water supply on 51,000 hectares of land, introduce gravity irrigation system on 9,500 hectares, improve ameliorative state of 50,000 hectares of lands.
