Mirziyoyev invites religious figures of Uzbekistan to iftar

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on June 15 will meet with religious figures of the country to organize for them iftar in honor of the Muslims' holy month of Ramadan.

According to the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Uzbekistan, iftar will bring together more than 1,200 imams, employees of the religious organizations and teachers of various educational institutions from regions. The delegations at the meeting will discuss ways to improve the religious and educational atmosphere in the country.

Iftar with the President will take place on June 15 in one of the Tashkent restaurants.

Until recently, conducting iftars in public places, including cafes and restaurants, has been banned in the country. Despite abolition of the ban, the clergy of Uzbekistan opposes collective iftars calling upon Muslims to make iftars at home.
