Ashgabat discusses outcomes of UN chief's visit

AKIPRESS.COM - Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a briefing on results of the visit to Turkmenistan Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres on June 15, the official media report.

Heads and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and representations of international organizations, as well as representatives of mass-media accredited in Turkmenistan, faculty and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan took part in the briefing.

The participants of the briefing were acquainted with the information on the issues of the "High-level Dialogue of Central Asia-UN" on the results of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia, conducted by the United Nations in cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan with participants Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the ambassadors of the Central Asian countries accredited in Ashgabat, the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan, the head of the European Union Office in Turkmenistan, employees of UN agencies and representative offices participated in the work of the dialogue.

The participants of the briefing highly appreciated the results of the meeting of the "High-level Dialogue of Central Asia-UN", as well as the implementation of the Joint Action Plan (SAP) in Central Asia, which was the first of its kind implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy at the level.
