Eurasian Media Forum opens in Astana (online)

AKIPRESS.COM - Eurasian Media Forum themed “Win-Win Scenario” opened in the EXPO congress center in Astana on June 23.

Gulshara Abdykhalikova, State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Akhmetzhan Yessimov, “Astana EXPO-2017” Chairman of Board, delivered welcoming speeches.

Abdykhalikova read out the address of the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev. Yessimov greeted the participants and reminded of the EXPO grand opening, which was attended by 17 heads of states and broadcast in several countries. He told about the preparations for EXPO and the meaning of the EXPO facilities.

"EXPO is attracting visitors as more than 300,000 people visited the EXPO so far," he said. 

Dariga Nazarbayeva, Chairperson of the EAMF Organizing Committee, addressed the participants of the forum, the 2017 agenda of which “tackles a variety of international foreign policy issues and challenges including the new world order and possible scenarios of global interaction and security strategy.”

Nazarbayeva welcomed the delegates to the 14th EAMF and announced the forum open.

The forum delegates will debate the concept of ‘green economy’ as a national basis for sustainable development, even in an era of crisis, the impact of the ‘Asian economic miracle’, the repercussions of the digital revolution and the role of investment as the driving force for economic integration.

This year speakers include José Manuel Barroso, ex-chairman of the European Commission, Portugal Abdullah Gül, the 11th President of the Republic of Turkey, Leonid Slutsky, head of the international committee of Russian State Duma, Bill Richardson, ex-Ambassador USA to UN, Gilead Sher, ex-PM Chief of Staff and Chief Negotiator, Israel, Natalya Alexeeva, head of UNEP-Central Asia,

Rajendra Pachauri, Nobel Peace Prize Winner from India , Representative of WWF Russia, Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor of Astana International Financial Centre, and others.
