Exhibition of Indian textile to be held in Bishkek

AKIPRESS.COM - The exhibition "Splendid world of Indian textiles" will kick off in Bishkek today at 4:00 pm local time, the Embassy of India reports. 

The textile traditions of India are varied, vibrant and rich both in their history and their texture. Indian textiles articulate culture, traditions, customs and rituals of the communities which produces those textile.

Some of the prominent textiles' techniques of India such as Ikkat, Patola, Kalamkari etc form part of this exhibitions and have been handed out in families over several generations creating a unique specialization amongst these families. Contemporary geometric forms, scared motifs, designs as well as floral patterns of the contemporary textiles can be traced back to the times when the hand woven styles and hand printing were in vogue. The exhibition presents saris, silk panels, tablecloths, cushions, carpets, etc.

Special value of Indian textiles is a handmade technique with the use of natural materials. It is definitely hard work, which requires the whole strength of the emotions and feelings o f the master.

The exhibition is arranged by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and organized by the Embassy of India, Bishkek and Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic, jointly with Altyn Taj (India – Kyrgyzstan Friendship Society).

In the opening ceremony there will be fashion show of Dilbar. She will display Kyrgyz dresses made of Indian textiles, small cultural program and Reception.
