Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: Naryn residents cook Kyrgyz traditional dish on stones

AKIPRESS.COM - The number of people who cook old Kyrgyz traditional dish “tash kordo” has increased in Kyzyl-Jyldyz village, Jumgal district of Naryn region, Turmush reports.

The dish is getting increasingly popular across Kyrgyzstan lately, especially in rural areas.

Local residents cook “tash kordo” in a kazan [large cooking pot]. According to them, it is necessary to marinate meat with spices for 1 or 2 days before cooking.

Then one needs to wash round, flat stones and place them in the kazan.

Meat should be placed on clean stones in the kazan and covered with potatoes, cabbage and other vegetables. The dish should be cooked on a slow fire for 2-3 hours.
