Relatives of activists of Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan to be questioned — Prosecutor General

AKIPRESS.COM - Relatives and members of the families of activists of the banned Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT) will be questioned in the framework of the criminal case against these activists, but there is no pressure on them, Prosecutor General of Tajikistan Yusuf Rahmon told a press conference in Dushanbe.

He denied reports on harassment of relatives and friend of these activists outside the country.

The IRPT last month declared about prosecution of relatives of the party's activists after a meeting of opposition forces in the German city of Dortmund.

The Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan, activities of which are recognized as terrorist and extremist in Tajikistan, was banned at the end of September 2015. The leader of the Party now lives abroad leaving Tajikistan after his IRPT's defeat in the elections to the Parliament.
Tajik authorities have accused the IRPT of financing and organizing an attempted coup in September 2015.
