EXPO-2017 officially closes in Astana

AKIPRESS.COM - The EXPO-2017 specialized international exhibition themed Energy of the Future officially closed September 10 evening in Astana, Kazakhstan.  

President of the host nation Nursultan Nazarbayev said the world expo was a success and told how it helped the local economy.

"More than 1400 small and medium enterprises received orders for service and goods supply totaling 640 billion tenge. The tourist sector of Kazakhstan received a noticeable boost as the demand for tour operator services increased 1.8 times. The number of business entities in Astana increased by more than 10%. The capital's budget received tax revenues by 1.2 times more. Astana was in the epicenter of global attention," Nazarbayev said in his closing speech.

4 million people visited the exhibition and 40-50 thousand visit were recorded per day, Nazarbayev said.

He thanked the people of Kazakhstan for making expo real and thousands of workers who successfully organized the exhibition.

At the end of his speech, President Nazarbayev declared the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 closed.
