6 ethnic Kyrgyz families from Pamir relocated in Naryn region

AKIPRESS.COM - Government expedition arrived in Kyrgyzstan on October 11 with 17 ethnic Kyrgyz children from Little Pamir and Great Pamir in Afghanistan.

The children are accompanied by their parents and close relatives, they were brought to Kyrgyzstan for education as part of agreements reached between Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan to support ethnic Kyrgyz living in Pamir.

The Pamir Kyrgyz live at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level. Therefore, they will be resettled in the high-altitude Naryn region in Kyrgyzstan. They will be under a constant medical control of the doctors within 2 months.

The works on resettlement are carried out in accordance with a special order of the Kyrgyz Governance, which sent an expedition to the Little and Great Pamir on October 2 to deliver humanitarian aid and taking ethnic Kyrgyz children accompanied by the parents and relatives to Kyrgyzstan for education.

More than 60 tons of humanitarian aid (medicines, food products, clothes, etc.) totaling 7 million som were delivered to the Pamir.

The government expedition brought 6 families -- 33 people, including 17 children under 18 years old. There are also a pregnant woman and a 1.5-year-old child among those arrived in Kyrgyzstan. They will be under constant medical care.
