AKIPRESS.COM - Government of Kyrgyzstan appealed to the Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in connection with the situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border, the Government said in a statement on Tuesday.
The reason for appeal was Kazakhstan's violation of key norms of the WTO General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and the agreement on the establishment of the World Trade Organization.
"Kazakhstan suddenly introduced enhanced control on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh and Russian-Kazakh state borders on October 10, 2017," the statement said.
Average number of daily admission of individuals and vehicles from Kyrgyzstan into the territory of Kazakhstan at big and busy checkpoints such as Ak-Jol and Ak-Tilek has decreased 2.4 time after introduction of additional control by Kazakh side, the statement said.
Kyrgyzstan as a full member of the WTO just like Kazakhstan will fully protect its interest within the organization, the Government statement said.
