Cabinet of Ministers of Mongolia formed

AKIPRESS.COM - The Parliament of Mongolia has approved the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers under the Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh at its sessions Oct 18-19, Mongolian media report.

Mongolian Government composition:

  1. Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia - U.Enkhtuvshin
  2. Minister of Mongolia, Head of the cabinet - G.Zandanshatar
  3. Minister of Environment and Tourism - N.Tserenbat
  4. Minister of Defence - N.Enkhbold
  5. Minister of Foreign Affairs - D.Tsogtbaatar
  6. Minister of Finance - Ch.Khurelbaatar
  7. Minister of Justice - Ts.Nyamdorj
  8. Minister of Social Welfare and Labour - S.Chinzorig
  9. Minister of Education, Culture and Science - Ts.Tsogzolmaa
  10. Minister of Construction and Urban Planning - Kh.Badelkhan
  11. Minister of Road and Transportation Development - J.Bat-Erdene
  12. Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry - D.Sumiyabazar
  13. Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry - B.Batzorig
  14. Minister of Energy - Ts.Davaasuren
  15. Minister of Health - D.Sarangerel.

New ministries received the stamps October 20 and begun their work. 

Khurelsukh, of the ruling Mongolian People's Party (MPP), was approved as the PM by the lawmakers on October 4. Khurelsukh succeeds Jargaltulga Erdenebat, who was voted out of office in September amid allegations of corruption and incompetence.

Khurelsukh, 49, is seen as a leader to the party's so-called "youth faction" and is also a noted motorcycle enthusiast. He is president of the fan club for Harley-Davidson in Ulaanbaatar.

The International Monetary Fund has approved an economic bailout program to help relieve debt pressures and buoy the currency, the tugrik, that includes austerity policies. An IMF visit to review the program that included the disbursement of $37.82 million of the funds was delayed in September until a new government was formed.
