Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: These people from remote village paving a road to their home with their own hands

AKIPRESS.COM - Residents of Kainar village in Uzgen district of Osh region are relying on their own hands and strength and building a road leading to their home village. In winter, it's only possible to move riding a horseback here because of the poor road infrastructure.

The village is located 17 km away from the district center. To get there from district center, locals have to drive cars for 10 km and then ride horses for 7 km because of the narrow road.  In order to change the situation, locals decided to expand the road for cars. They managed to remove parts of the mountain for 200 meters.

According to local men working on the new road, even school children come to help them after school.

Kainar is home to about 102 families. 25 households live in the upper part of the village and one does not simply manage to get there, said local authority Baktiyar Abytbek uulu.

"Money from local budget for building road was not allocated this year. But 500 thousand soms were allocated for road engraving," he said.
