Kyrgyzstan bans entry for nationals of China, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Italy over coronavirus

AKIPRESS.COM - The Kyrgyz government has introduced temporary entry restrictions for nationals of China, Iran, Japan, South Korea and Italy.

The restrictions will become effective since March 1. The group of the countries of travel restrictions may be added depending upon the global epidemiological situation.

Restrictions will appy to nationals of the above countries traveling to Kyrgyzstan for work, tourism, private visit, except for holders of diplomatic passports.

The ban on entry into Kyrgyzstan for foreign nationals is imposed in connection with deterioration of the epidemiological situation and continuing arrival of nationals from coronavirus worst affected countries.

The issuance of invitations for nationals of the above countries will be stopped since March 1.

Vice Prime Minister Altinai Omurbekova said this is a compulsory temporary measure since the global situation is changing rapidly.

"This decision is explained with the aims to ensure safety and protect health of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and prevent spread of coronavirus," Altinai Omurbekova said.

Altinai Omurbekova said coronavirus cases were confirmed in more than 50 countries, but coronavirus prevalence rate reached more than 100-1000 in the above countries. Citizens of the countries, where less than 10 coronavirus cases were confirmed, when crossing the border into Kyrgyzstan will be held under observation within 3 days.

“All citizens of Kyrgyzstan temporarily staying in the countries with unfavorable epidemiological situation will be quarantined for 14 days upon return to Kyrgyzstan,” the Vice PM stated.

As of February 28, no coronavirus was registered in Kyrgyzstan.

Citizens are recommended to refrain from crowded places. Restriction of mass events is advised.
